Dan Tana's

I thought this was a great "old school" Italian restaurant. I went there with my girlfriend and we were treated like we were Hollywood Royalty. I was so impressed, because some of the other reviews suggested otherwise. It was a little spendy for Italian, so they lost a star for that... but otherwise - have at it!

Loved it! A bit pricey, but worth it to try something new! The employees were very friendly and the decor enhances the experience.

On the positive side, the food is good. But the restaurant is very crowded and very cramped. It's a very noisy restaurant. Also, bear in mind that it's pretty pricey.

Even though booths are too small, I was mesmerized by ambiance, cranky James Woods and some great foos.

Love Dan Tana’s! Such a classic. Don’t make it often enough but a really fun place to meet up with friends. There isn’t much left of this “Old Hollywood” vibe and Dan Tana’s is the bomb.

Dan Tana's is an LA institution. On the positive side, the food is very good. But there are a couple of drawbacks. For one thing, the restaurant is very small and cramped, and the seating is not very comfortable. It's extremely noisy, although the people that go there seem to be happy. And another thing is that the restaurant is fairly pricey. The main course dishes start in the $30 to $35 price range, and go up from there. Pretty much everything is a la carte, if you want to order a side of a vegetable, be prepared for it to cost about $17. It's a good place, but be prepared for it to be pretty expensive.

Nice atmosphere, great service. Lots of wonderful traditional Italian dishes. The Chicken Parmigiana is wonderful.

Amazingly consistent, Dan Tanas is probably my favorite restaurant in Los Angeles and one of my top five best restaurants on Planet Earth.The food is delicious and cooked to perfection. I love the scampi, scallops and their Caeser salad is the best I have ever had. It's truly a Time Warp that takes me back to 1975 Everytime I go there.

AMAZING! It is very pricey, and very packed, but it is worth it, honestly one of the best restaurants I have ever been to, absolutely spectacular, I recommend dinner salad and chicken parm!

I've never been to a more annoying place in my life. The staff is typical arrogant- LA; if you're not a wealthy regular or Hollywood star, they treat you like they're better than you.Dan Tana's staff: you are not special, you're waiters at an Italian restaurant!!! The lasagna was good, about as good as my own that I make for about $3/slice in my non-Hollywood kitchen. Get over yourselves, Dan Tana's; I've been to hundreds of restaurants better than yours.

Old school red sauce joint. Plenty of celebs, even late at night on a Sunday.

Amazing food! My group arrived right before they were about to close the kitchen, and we ended up having a memorable night here. The wait staff was joking with us and while they were closing up we ended up hanging out with a few of them. Very fun group! Definitely recommend coming to eat here!

Classic LA eatery. One of my favorite go to's when in town.

Decent Italian fare. The wine is ok. The joint is very loud for a small restaurant. The best thing about Dan Tana's is that it has an old school feel that comes from them being there forever.

graeat food and expereince. It was expensive for Italian, so they lost a star for that. Decore is worn 1970s look which actually adds to its charm. You feel like you are in the 1970s or 1980s and that era celebrity could walk in any moment. The James Woods special, AKA Veal Florentine was very good.

Pure old LA, and a fun place to visit.

Wow! You wouldn’t know it from looking at it. The outside is dated and misleading. I had the Chicken parmigiana which was absolutely fantastic. Service is great very traditional Italian. Bar staff are friendly and sharp. Really nice spot. I loved it and would come back.

Best steaks in Los Angeles. Delightful, attentive service by experienced waiters. The reason I am giving it 4 stars is that the place is a riot of sound and EXTREMELY noise. You can’t hear yourself think there!

Absolutely divine food. Everything was so intensely flavorful. I was in food heaven and wanted to keep eating forever.

You have to try seasar salad. Everything so delicious but here is the best restaurant of seasar salad for me.

Lovely Italian restaurant! So lively, even at 11PM, where else in LA can you find something this authentic. Fantastic food and wonderful staff that will serve you! Tip: definitely try the Chocolate cheesecake!! So good.

The food just isn’t THAT great... Judging on the food alone, I would give this place 2 stars. Judging on atmosphere alone I would give this place 4-5 stars, then factoring the price, we average out at 3 stars. The cocktail shrimps were dry and gross. The tomatoes in the caprese salad was old and of poor quality. Seeing as you’re only serving 4 slices you’d think that they’d choose 4 dang good slices. The lasagne was good but not of Italian standards, same with the gnocchi. The veal was also dry and underwhelming. Overall the food was eh. Its definitely edible but nothing noteworthy or memorable. The atmosphere, however, is adorable! I loved the way the waiters were dressed, and their service was awesome. The decor was quirky and lovable. The place was also packed and bustling making it feel like it was THE spot to be.

Service was excellent, very attentive and friendly. Serves traditional Italian dishes. We had fried zucchini, fried calamari, cannelloni and veal Milanese. Delicious. Have to come back another time to try the other items in the menu.

We really enjoyed our time and dinner in this little Italian joint. The food was great, the service was amusing, fun and entertaining and the atmosphere was a lot of fun with amazing energy. Will definitely be going back!

Excellent Valentine’s dinner with the family! The gnocchi and lasagna were Amaaaaaazing! The iced tea is great too! The valet parking is quick too. I want to go back. We made a reservation 3 weeks early since it was Valentine’s dinner. We got right in. Loved it! 💖🍝💕

I loved the old school Hollywoodness of it all. Be prepared to make an evening of it though. It's not fast, but it's great.

Not for everyone.. it’s pretty much a love or hate it with some- it’s one of those rare restaurants that has a vide. Many find it loud and too crowded- I happen to love it. I have Been going to Tana’s for about 40 years; always a good meal, and always a good laugh always and good time.

This place is buzzing and great for people watching. The serving sizes are insane so come hungry. Staff are engaging and funny. Not sure the quality of the food measures us to the fun ambience. Make reservations or expect a wait.

Very nice and very tasty food. I had delicious oyster and a brill fish that was cooked to perfection.

What a joint. Unique vibe and cheesy decor paired with celebrity sightings and tons of LA history it is a spot you have to go to once. Great veal parm!
